MDCC Announces Maryland Business Hall of Fame Inductees

2/25/20

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2020 inductees for its Maryland Business Hall of Fame Award, one of the five Inspire MD Award categories. Inspire MD is the Chamber’s annual awards ceremony that honors exceptional business leaders and celebrates the unique ways they are strengthening Maryland. This year’s event will take place on May 6 at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill.

The Maryland Business Hall of Fame Award acknowledges outstanding leaders and contributors to the Maryland business community. The 2020 recipients, selected by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors’ Executive Committee, are as follows:

Henry Posko, President and CEO, Humanim: Mr. Posko is a social entrepreneur committed to public service and developing organizations and programs supporting economic self-sufficiency, both locally and globally. For the last 35 years, he has served as the president and CEO of Humanim, a large nongovernmental organization (NGO) based in the Baltimore-Washington metro area that is focused on providing support programs, case management and opportunities for economic independence for those who have encountered obstacles to work.

Redonda G. Miller, M.D., President, The Johns Hopkins Hospital: Dr. Miller is the first female president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and since her appointment in 2016, she has led successful efforts to expand the world-renowned hospital’s focus on high-value care, and to enhance safety and the patient experience. She’s been called a transformational leader and role model, gifted physician and skilled communicator who bridges the delivery of health and the business of health with skill and grace.

“We congratulate Henry and Redonda for the shining examples they set in their workplace, their community, the entire state and beyond,” said Christine Ross, president and CEO of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to highlight their incredible contributions to Maryland and honor them for their tireless work on May 6.”

The Chamber will also announce finalists for the following two categories in April: the Public Service Award, which honors a singular outstanding public servant for his or her commitment to improving quality of life for Marylanders and advancing our economy, and the Civility Award, given to elected officials who demonstrate civility in their words and deeds.

Nominations are open to the public for the remaining two categories--Inspire MD Award and Rising Star Award. The Inspire MD Award will go to a Maryland business that is fueling our state’s talent pipeline by providing training and tools for tomorrow’s leaders. The Rising Star Award will recognize an outstanding up-and-coming business leader, age 35 or under, who works in Maryland. Nominees do not have to be members of the Maryland Chamber. Nominations for these two categories must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020. The recipients of these two awards will be announced on May 6.
