Wes Guckert

The Daily Record selected Wes Guckert, PTP, President and CEO of The Traffic Group, as one of Maryland’s 2019 Most Admired CEOs.

The Daily Record created the Most Admired CEOs awards program to recognize talented business CEOs and nonprofit executive directors throughout Maryland for their leadership and vision. The winners were selected based on professional accomplishments, community service and letters of reference showing the CEO's leadership and vision.

"This year's Most Admired CEOs demonstrate that leadership matters to our economy and to the quality of our day-to-day lives," said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. "Many people are promoted into leadership roles, but only some people have the emotional intelligence, focus, drive and compassion to become an admired leader. We at The Daily Record are pleased to honor this year's Most Admired CEOs."

Guckert earned this honor through not only his tireless work in the community – which includes nearly a decade and a half as a board member with the Carson’s Scholars Foundation – but he is also a highly respected authority in the fields of traffic engineering and transportation planning. With 40 years experience, he has played a major role in nearly 8,000 urban and suburban area projects throughout the United States and internationally.

He is also an Instructor at Harvard University and a member of Texas A&M Transportation Technology Advisory Council, RELLIS Campus Development for transportation technology research and testing, and the Texas A&M Campus Transportation Technology Initiative deployment. He is also Immediate Past Chair of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Public Development Infrastructure Council.

A Fellow with the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Guckert is also a regular speaker nationally, presenting to groups such as NAIOP, the International Council of Shopping Center’s RECon, the Intelligent Transportation Society’s ITS America, ITE’s Annual Meeting, the National Parking Association’s Convention & Expo, and numerous ULI events.

The 2019 Most Admired CEOs will be honored Nov. 5 at a dinner starting at 5:15 p.m. at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport Hotel in Linthicum Heights. The event hashtag is #TDRawards.

Fellow winners include individuals from organizations such as Baltimore Gas and Electric, an Exelon Company, CareFirst BlueCross Blue Shield, Barcoding, Inc., and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland.
