J. Peter Ward, Jr.is Named President and Board Chair at Jemicy

Jemicy School in Owings Mills is pleased to announce that J. Peter Ward, Jr. has been named the new President and Chair of the school’s Board of Trustees.

Ward, whose son Craig has attended Jemicy since 2011 and is currently in ninth grade, joined the Board in 2013. He first served on the Athletic Advisory Committee and the Building and Grounds Committee, which he then chaired from 2014 until July of this year. Since 2017, he has been Vice-chair of the Board, and he has also served on the Executive, Finance, Trusteeship and Long-range Planning Committees.

During his time at Jemicy, Ward has been instrumental in bringing a number of major capital projects to fruition, including the Tomlinson Theater, the Phyllis and Leonard J. Attman Family and Alumni Center, and the recently completed Lower School façade, patio and administrative office renovation.

Ward, who lives in Owings Mills, is president of Ward-Boland Associates, a leading provider of comprehensive HVAC solutions to the Greater Maryland area. He is a graduate of McDonogh School and the University of Vermont, where he earned a degree in engineering and mathematics. In addition to Craig, Ward and his wife, Lea, director of Parent Giving at McDonogh, have a son, JP, who will graduate from McDonogh this year.

“We are very excited to welcome Pete as the new President and Chair of Jemicy’s Board of Trustees,” said Ben Shifrin, head of Jemicy School. “I have gotten to know Pete over the years as a dedicated member of the Jemicy community. He has spearheaded many significant projects and has been a tremendous asset to our school. I look forward to working with Pete on future projects that strengthen our commitment to our students and ensure the continued success of Jemicy.”

Ward is also a member and former trustee of the Green Spring Valley Hunt Club and a former trustee at McDonogh; he is on the Advisory Board of Harlem Lacrosse, Baltimore Chapter.
