Greenberg Gibbons Welcomes Entrepreneur David Williams as Major Investor and Board Member

9/8/19

Brian Gibbons, Chairman and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons, announced today that local entrepreneur David Williams has purchased a 47.5% ownership share of the real estate development and management company and will join its Board of Directors. Mr. Gibbons will maintain 47.5% ownership of Greenberg Gibbons and continue leading the firm. Other company executives will share the remaining 5% ownership.

“David and I have known each other for more than 15 years and share a passion for building big, bold things,” said Brian Gibbons. “He will bring added creativity and financial capability to help us continue to do the large-scale mixed-use projects we’re renowned for, while growing our development portfolio and investments in other asset classes such as hotels, apartments and commercial office projects.”

Mr. Williams is and will remain the Chairman and CEO of Merkle, a leading digital marketing agency with 9,000 employees and more than $1 Billion in annual revenue that is headquartered in Columbia, Md. In 2017, Advertising Age ranked Merkle as the 9th largest CRM/Direct Marketing agency globally. Mr. Williams acquired Merkle in 1988, becoming its 24th employee, and he has led the company to sustained double-digit growth for more than 25 years. In September 2016, he sold a majority stake in Merkle to the Dentsu Aegis Network, one of the world’s largest advertising holding companies.

“Brian and the Greenberg Gibbons team have built an amazing track record with projects like Hunt Valley Towne Centre, Annapolis Towne Centre, Waugh Chapel Towne Centre and Foundry Row,” David Williams added. “I’m excited to help shape the company’s future vision and develop more landmark projects that create positive community impact and a lasting legacy.”
