Correct Rx CEO Ellen Yankellow Receives 2018 Icon Honors Award

Ellen H. Yankellow, president and CEO of Correct Rx Pharmacy Services Inc., received The Daily Record’s 2018 Icon Honors award. The award recognizes Maryland business leaders over the age of 60 for their success and leadership both within and outside of their chosen fields.

Yankellow specializes in institutional and geriatric pharmacy services. She started Correct Rx after a career as an executive in the pharmacy services industry. Her business model is based on clinical programs that offer better medical outcomes and lower health care costs at the same time.

In addition, Yankellow serves on the boards of nonprofit organizations, including the Catholic Community Foundation board of trustees, the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation board of trustees, Executive Alliance, Maryland Chamber of Commerce, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Women’s Leadership Council and St. Mary’s Seminary and University. She is also part of the United Way of Central Maryland Leadership and Philanthropic Network.

Among her honors, Yankellow has been recognized with the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2016 Exemplary Leadership Award and 2010 Helen C. Schulze Award and The Children’s Guild’s Sadie Award.

Yankellow also received the Bowl of Hygeia Award, one of the most widely recognized international symbols for pharmacy and considered one of the profession’s most prestigious awards. Her other honors include the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy’s Founding Pharmapreneurs Award and Key to Pharmacy Hall, the CBNB’s 2017 Catholic Business Leadership Award, Associated Black Charities’ Community Impact Award and Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s Distinguished Women’s Award.

In addition to her Icon Honors award, Yankellow has received three Maryland’s Top 100 Women awards from The Daily Record and was inducted into its Circle of Excellence. She also received the newspaper’s Most Influential Leaders award. Yankellow was inducted into the Chimes Hall of Fame, received the Bravo! Entrepreneur Award from Smart Woman Magazine and was recognized by The Gazette of Politics and Business as one of Maryland’s Top 25 CEOs You Need to Know.

Yankellow earned her doctorate and bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, which she continues to support. She donated the largest gift ever from a female graduate to the school. Her gift resulted in the naming of the Ellen H. Yankellow Grand Atrium in Pharmacy Hall and the establishment of a first-of-its-kind fellowship.
