The 16-year-old company evolves to an impact-driven collective of businesses that “Shift the work world to transform the real world”

Baltimore-based entreQuest announced today that it has rebranded to SHIFT. For 16 years, entreQuest has delivered management consulting services to more than 600 companies—helping them to thrive, regardless of obstacles—with a secondary focus on talent acquisition. Now, SHIFT will operate a collective of businesses, including SHIFT Consulting, SHIFT Recruiting, SHIFT Society, and SHIFT Ventures.

“Research supports that 70% of the American workforce is disengaged in their workplace, which translates to an enormous gap in the utilization of human potential. We believe the single biggest leverage of human potential is a more engaged workforce,” said Joe Mechlinski, founder and CEO of SHIFT.

SHIFT is driven by its mission to “shift the work world to transform the real world.”

“What if we returned home at the end of each work day happy and fulfilled? What if we went home better friends, fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, siblings, and partners because our work lights us up? We can help make this shift,” added Mechlinski.

Today, SHIFT’s collective of businesses includes:

  • SHIFT Consulting - a consulting firm that uses an outcomes-based, programmatic approach to sculpt, shape, and streamline an organization. The firm works with teams to identify the biggest pains, overcome barriers, and achieve business growth.
  • SHIFT Recruiting - a recruiting company that blends science, art, psychology, and organizational development to match candidates and clients.
  • SHIFT Society - a mission-driven, localized, invite-only entrepreneurial membership community creating meaningful, sustainable change in local communities first, and then the rest of the world.
  • SHIFT Ventures - a venture capital arm of SHIFT. Launched in partnership with Conscious Venture Lab, a Baltimore Md.-based early stage business accelerator with the goal of developing companies and leaders who embrace capitalism as a powerful catalyst for the good of society, SHIFT Ventures’ mission is to uncover entrepreneurial talent wherever it may be found. Bringing together the consulting expertise of SHIFT and the venture capital capabilities of the Conscious Venture Lab, it aims to nurture seeds of prosperity in both traditional places and in places where they may not have been so cared for in the past. The first combined cohort of new companies will be run out of West Baltimore along wit the new Innovation Village innovation district, a civic partnership designed to revive much of the area fractured by the April 2015 riots.

“eQ has earned a powerful reputation in both the management consulting and recruiting space, but the truth is, the name was not seamlessly capturing what we do,” said Mechlinski. “Our new name chose itself: we are SHIFT.”
