Bert Drake, Ph.D. Selected As Chief Scientist For Green Connected
Annapolis, MD (February 24, 2010) - Green Connected has announced the hiring of Bert Drake, Ph.D. as the company's Chief Scientist. The educational and consulting firm operates www.greenconnected.com with 500 companies using or providing environmentally friendly products and services. In Green Connected's efforts to provide educational resources and speakers that are first in class, Drake was selected as their expert scientist because of his proven ability to teach on the level of the non-scientist and to motivate businesses towards sustainability.
In his new role, Dr. Drake will headline a nationwide presentation series featuring the research and science behind climate change and the current energy crisis. His presentations will address the science of climate change and discuss the sources of rising atmospheric CO2 concentration. He includes easily understood explanations of how the CO2 from fossil fuel burning is increasing atmospheric CO2 and causing global warming, and how global warming is causing a reduction in the ability of the oceans and land to absorb additional CO2, loss of arctic sea ice, rising sea level, and threats to our ability grow food. Drake also outlines an action plan to measure and reduce the carbon footprint of businesses, schools, and homes.
Dr. Bert Drake, brings scientific credibility and expertise to the company. During his long career as an environmental scientist with Smithsonian Institution he received over $10 million dollars in external grants and undertook one of the first and most influential experiments on the effects of rising atmospheric CO2 and climate change on the carbon cycle of land ecosystems. In 2005, he was designated the Distinguished Science Lecturer by the Smithsonian Institution for his long record of research and public outreach. As well as being an author on over 120 publications, Dr. Drake served as a consultant to NASA and the Department of Energy, and as a visiting professor at the Universite Paris Sud, Orsay, France, University of Vienna, Vienna Austria, College of Marine Studies University of Delaware, and George Washington University, and American University.
