Bioscience Day 2009 at the University of Maryland

Bioscience Research & Technology Review Day at the University of Maryland is a special event that features research talks, presentations, mini-symposia, and demonstrations by university scientists. The program provides a unique opportunity for executives and professionals in industry and government to discover the most recent advances in bioscience and biotechnology at the University of Maryland and to explore the potential for academic-industry-government collaboration.

The Tenth Annual Bioscience Day on Thursday, November 12 will feature the theme - Human and Biological Consequences of Climate Change. Come learn about the impact that climate change is having on all living organisms - from bacteria to wildflowers to frogs, penguins, polar bears, and people. Thomas Lovejoy, one of the leading conservation biologists in the world, known for founding the public television series Nature will give the keynote address.

Other higlights include an internship and career fair, a poster session showcasing cutting-edge research and the Third Annual Professor Venture Fair. This last event gives faculty inventors the opportunity to pitch new technologies to a team of five venture capitalists and entrepreneurs who judge them based on commercial viability.

This event is FREE and open to the public.
