Bonnie Heneson Communications Receives Women’s Business Enterprise Certification

OWINGS MILLS/COLUMBIA, Md. -- Bonnie Heneson Communications (BHC), a full-service marketing communications firm, has been certified as a Women's Business Enterprise by The Minority and Women's Business Opportunity Office. This certification gives BHC the opportunity to work on state and government projects, lists the company on the Minority Business Internet Directory, a state and public reference document, and allows BHC to create important business relationships with companies specifically tailored to include M/WBE companies.

"Being certified as a WBE company will open new doors for the firm," said Bonnie K. Heneson, president and founder of BHC. "There will be great new sourcing opportunities and potential clients, which will allow us to continue growing as a company."

This is BHC's second time receiving WBE status. Certification is given when more than half a company is owned and managed by an individual who is considered socially and economically disadvantaged, such as a woman. Each business submits various records and documents for review and is monitored to ensure proper MBE guidelines are followed. Certification must be renewed every two years.

Started in 1978, the Maryland Department of Transportation has worked with the Maryland State Government to create and maintain the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program to ensure inclusion and increase participation of minority owned businesses in state and government projects. The MBE participation goal is to include 25 percent of certified businesses, 10 percent of which are women owned firms.

Bonnie Heneson Communications (BHC) is a full-service marketing communications agency with offices in Owings Mills and Columbia, Md. Launched in 1990 by firm president and founder Bonnie K. Heneson, BHC specializes in advertising, marketing, publications, special events, public relations, Web communications and graphic design services, primarily for health care, educational, religious and service-oriented clients.
