Bowie & Jensen's Matt Hjortsberg Champions Light the Night Walk Hjortsberg's wife Lara was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma 5 Years Ago and Today is a Survivor of the Disease
Towson, Maryland: Bowie & Jensen, a Towson business law firm, is proud to announce they are an official corporate sponsor of Baltimore's 2009 Light The Night Walk. Light The Night is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual walk and fundraising event that pays tribute and brings hope to people battling cancer.
Bowie & Jensen partner Matt Hjortsberg is the State of Maryland Corporate chair for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society's annual walk. Hjortsberg's wife Lara was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma five years ago and will take the walk as a survivor of the disease.
"My family has personally been affected by Lymphoma and we were lucky to have the support of our family, friends, community and doctors as we faced this disease," said Matt Hjortsberg. "As a firm Bowie & Jensen has been blessed with continued success and we are in a position to give back to a community that we are deeply invested in. We are proud to be an official sponsor of this year's Light The Night Walk."
Each year, in communities all across the United States, families, friends, neighbors, and teams from local businesses and national companies come together for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk and walk in twilight, holding illuminated balloons - white for survivors, red for supports, and gold in memory of loved ones lost. The funds raised help provide research, financial assistance for patients, educational materials and local programs.
The Baltimore-area walk will be held on Baltimore Walk is scheduled for October 24 at Camden Yards. Registration starts at 6 p.m. and the walk begins after the opening ceremony at 8 p.m.

Light The Night is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of patients battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society funds lifesaving cancer research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and many other types of cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, that have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving the quality of life.
