Patrick Turner, William L. Yerman To Chair NKF-MD’S Inaugural Santé Fundraiser

BALTIMORE - Patrick Turner, president of Turner Development Group, and William L. Yerman, CEO of The Strata Group, have signed on as corporate chairs of the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland's (NKF-MD) newest fundraiser.
Santé: an Epicurean Adventure will take place Sunday, June 13, 2010, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the American Visionary Art Museum (800 Key Hwy.) in downtown Baltimore.
"We are excited to launch Santé and have it guided by the leadership of Patrick Turner and William Yerman, who are widely respected in Baltimore's corporate community," said Wanda Lessner, NKF-MD's board president.
THE CHAIRS
Turner
Turner is spearheading the development of Silo Point in Locust Point and the Westport waterfront redevelopment. He oversees Turner Development Group, which is known for transforming unique structures into urban havens for residential and commercial use.
He also is a board member of Patriots of Fort McHenry and an Executive Committee member of both the National Brownfield Association Committee and the Urban Land Institute.
Additionally, Turner serves on the Greater Baltimore Committee's President's Advisory Council and is a member of the Baltimore City Transportation Investment Commission, the Downtown Partnership and the Center Club.
Yerman
Yerman oversees The Strata Group, a full-service real estate collaboration providing extensive real estate, legal and financial services in Maryland. It comprises six distinct companies: Yerman Witman Gaines & Conklin Realty, Real Estate Mortgage Funding, Real Estate Title & Escrow, Strata Law, Strata Financial Services and Strata New Homes Sales, with offices in Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County.
A past president of the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors and the Maryland Land Title Association, he has held board positions with the Maryland Association of Realtors.
Yerman also has served on the Greater Baltimore Committee's President's Council and has chaired Junior Achievement of Central Maryland's Executive Council, Garrison Forest School's Annual Fund and State of Israel Bonds.
THE EVENT
NKF-MD is planning Santé "to combine the best elements of traditional wine, craft beer and gourmet food events to offer a truly unique tasting experience," Lessner said.
With an event committee led by Jessica P. Butkera (an associate at Chason, Rosner, Leary & Marshall, LLC) and M. Ryan Weir Jr. (manager of M&T Bank's Ruxton branch), the event will feature guided food and beverage tastings, a silent auction, live music by Bob Margolis & The Blues Philosophers and additional entertainment.
Honorary Chairs supporting the event are Hugh Sisson, managing partner of lipper City Brewing Co.; Nelson Carey, sommelier and owner of Grand Cru wine bar; Brendan Dorr, head bartender at B&O Brasserie, and Jerry Pellegrino, chef/owner of Corks Restaurant.
Some of the food and beverage vendors already secured include Linwood's, The Wine Market, The Brewer's Art, Clipper City Brewing Co. and Flying Dog Brewery.

Event proceeds will help NKF-MD to expand its patient services, education and research efforts. Serving central and western Maryland, the Delmarva peninsula and portions of West Virginia, NKF-MD is the area's only voluntary health agency dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of kidney and urinary tract diseases.
