MGH Launches Small Business Contest

1/9/13

Baltimore agency's contest, Make it Big, offers one small business the chance to win a billboard design and placement on a major Maryland Highway

MGH, an advertising and marketing agency, announced it has launched Make it Big – a contest for small businesses based in Maryland to win a billboard designed and placed by the agency. The billboard will be located on a major Maryland highway for one month. Small for-profit businesses can enter by visiting makeitbigcontest.com and submitting a video detailing why the company should win the free billboard. The contest officially launches today and video entries will be accepted through Feb. 13.

Starting Feb. 20, the general public will be able to vote on three finalists – chosen by MGH – that will have their videos featured on the agency's Facebook page. The business with the most valid votes will receive a free billboard, which has the potential to garner more than 1.6 million impressions. Public voting closes on March 5.

"I started MGH with my business partners and a couple of credit cards, so I know how scary yet exhilarating it can be to start your own business. This year, MGH decided to honor our humble beginnings by creating a contest to help one Maryland-based small business start 2013 off with a bang," commented MGH President, Andy Malis. "Maryland has a stellar entrepreneurial spirit, so we are excited to see what's out there and to give a boost to one lucky winner who has what it takes to make it big."

Like many small business, MGH was formed at President Andy Malis' kitchen table. More than 15 years later, the agency is one of the largest full-service integrated marketing agencies in the Mid-Atlantic and works with some of Maryland's most iconic brands – from Old Bay and Utz to Ocean City, Maryland and Smyth Jewelers.

The contest is open to U.S. residents physically located and residing in Maryland who are at least 18 years old and who are controlling owners of a for-profit small business with $5 million or less in annual revenue.
