Howard Hospital Foundation, which provides philanthropic support to Howard County General Hospital, received a $250,000 donation from Creig and Carla Northrop, husband-and-wife residents of Howard County. The donation supports Howard County General Hospital's Campus Development Plan, a completed 233,656-square-foot expansion and renovation project.

"We are passionate about giving back and investing in our community. It is the most important thing we can do. I live where I work, I work where I live, and I was very fortunate to grow up in this community," said Creig Northrop, a Howard County native, local realtor with Long & Foster Real Estate and father of two children born at Howard County General Hospital.

Howard Hospital Foundation has raised $18,305,587 of the $20-million philanthropic fundraising goal to support the Campus Development Plan (CDP). The public phase of the capital fundraising campaign began in November 2007.

"The Northrops' donation to the CDP demonstrates a deep personal commitment to work for a better community for all of us," said Sandy Harriman, vice president of development for Howard Hospital Foundation (HHF). "Through these funds, HHF is able to support the hospital in its continued mission to be the health care provider of choice in the region."

In addition to donating to the Campus Development Plan, Carla Northrop supports Howard County General Hospital's Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center.

"While HCGH serves those who live and work in Howard County, it is, in our opinion, one of the best hospitals in the country," said Carla Northrop. "We want to see the hospital grow with the community, and supporting the hospital in this manner is our way to help ensure that the level of care we have come to expect continues for generations to come."

Howard Hospital Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization entrusted to provide philanthropic support of Howard County General Hospital: A Member of Johns Hopkins Medicine.  Through the generosity of many donors, the foundation helps Howard County General Hospital respond to the health care needs of the growing community, fostering world-class medical care and wellness services in a convenient, local setting.
