Wineholt to Join AOBA as VP – Government Affairs for Maryland

Ronald W. Wineholt will join The Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington as Vice President – Government Affairs for Maryland, effective Oct. 1, 2012.
With more than 30 years experience in advocacy and government affairs at the state level in Maryland, Wineholt is assuming the position currently held by
Lesa Hoover, who is retiring in mid-November after 22 years.
Wineholt has served as Vice President – Government Affairs for the Maryland Chamber of Commerce since 2003. As the lead lobbyist, he has been responsible for promoting employers’ interests before the executive and legislative branches of state government on fiscal issues, health care, civil liability and state procurement matters.
Previous to his position with the Maryland Chamber, Wineholt worked for the State of Maryland as Director of the State Department of Assessments and
Taxation. In this position from 1995 to 2003, he managed the state agency responsible for appraisal of all real and personal property in Maryland for purposes of property taxation. His department had 25 offices, 700 employees and an annual budget of over $90 million.
He has also previously served as principal staff for the Senate Finance Committee, House Appropriations Committee and House Ways and Means Committee of the Maryland General Assembly.
Wineholt holds a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park.
