Sheela Murthy, Founder and President of the prestigious immigration practice, the Murthy Law Firm, was elected to the TiE DC Board of Directors, the Washington branch of TiE Global, a prestigious international network of entrepreneurs and C-level executives who have roots or business interests - or both - in the Indus region. Murthy and seven other new Board members were honored by being inducted into the DC Board after a hotly contested election process on December 12th, 2012, at TiE DC's 2012 Annual Gala, held at the Bethesda Country Club in Maryland.

TiE’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentorship, networking, and education. Since 1992, TiE has grown into an international organization with over 13,000 members, including 2,500 Charter Members, an elite circle to which Sheela Murthy belongs. A committed philanthropist, Ms. Murthy is recognized for her work in the United States and in her native land, India.
Murthy helps lead the MurthyNayak Foundation, a nonprofit nongovernmental organization that seeks to help with women's basic needs and protection from abuse, children's education, support programs that assist immigrants, and causes that help to educate and advocate for immigrants in the U.S. She is a much sought after speaker who is passionate about entrepreneurship and motivation, leadership and women's issues, as she hopes to help make the world a better place.
