Pride of Baltimore Appoints Rick Scott CEO
Pride of Baltimore, Inc. is thrilled to announce the selection of Rick Scott as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Pride, Inc. in February 2013, Mr. Scott was the Chief Operating Officer for the Institute for Integrative Health, a Baltimore-based non-profit. For the past twenty years, he has held leadership roles within non-profit, educational, and start-up environments, and has received numerous awards for creativity and innovation.
"We are delighted to have found an individual with proven fundraising and leadership talent," says Stuart Amos, vice chair of the board of directors. "The Board is excited for the future of the ship and we welcome this critical addition to our team."
Pride II has visited hundreds of ports and welcomed aboard thousands of individuals from across the world since it was commissioned in 1988. Pride II is now celebrating its 25th anniversary and is an active participant in the bicentennial celebrations of the War of 1812.
"It's an incredibly exciting time for the Pride," remarks Mr. Scott, whose accomplishments span the areas of strategic planning, program development, and operations. "As the Pride sails into her twenty-fifth year, she represents two centuries of sailing ingenuity and continues to serve as a symbol of innovation, renewal, and the entrepreneurial spirit that shaped our country."
Mr. Scott will work closely with the board of directors, captains, crew, staff, and volunteers to shape the strategic direction for Pride II in the coming years.
Pride of Baltimore II is a reproduction of an 1812-era topsail schooner privateer. She is Maryland's working symbol of the great natural resources and spectacular beauty of the Chesapeake Bay region, and a reminder of America's rich maritime heritage. Pride II is owned and operated by the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Pride of Baltimore, Inc. No longer city or state funded, continuation of Pride II's mission is contingent on private funding.
