NFTE Baltimore Appoints R. Todd Lazenby and Frank van Vliet to Board
R. Todd Lazenby
The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), Baltimore, has appointed R. Todd Lazenby and Frank R. van Vliet to its board of directors. They will serve a three-year term.
R. Todd Lazenby is founder and managing member of Victory Partners, LLC, a leading middle-market investment bank and private equity investor. He is also managing member of Royal Ascot Partners, LLC, Victory’s private equity investment group affiliated with Hickman Investments, L.P.
Prior to forming Victory Partners, Lazenby was managing partner of WP Capital Partners, L.P. (formerly Summit Capital Partners, LLC), where he sourced, managed and closed more than $350 million in transactions for the firm.
In addition, he has advised Winthrop Capital, a private venture firm, on its staffing industry consolidation strategy; was a founding principal and executive vice present of Affinity Finance, LLC; and served as senior vice president at Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco, where he managed the bank’s national home equity division.
He has been a longtime community supporter, including service to the board of directors of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the March of Dimes, where he twice chaired the “Breakfast with a Champion” fundraiser. He has held leadership positions on company and community boards.
Lazenby holds a master’s in banking and finance from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Banking; a master’s of business administration and a bachelor of science in communications, both with high honors, from Florida State University; and a bachelor of science in business administration, with high honors, from Barry University.
Frank R. van Vliet is executive-in-residence at the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore. He teaches a variety of marketing, entrepreneurship and business ethics classes and is the faculty adviser to the UB Marketing Club, Mu Kappa Tau (marketing honor society) and Sigma Nu Tau (entrepreneurship honor society).
He has more than 32 years of experience as a top-performing sales and marketing executive with a comprehensive background in marketing, strategic planning, business development and talent management. He served as director of organizational leadership development and director of marketing operations at Baltimore Aircoil Company; director of sales and marketing at SP Industries; and in several leadership positions at Transmation, Inc.
van Vliet has received several awards and honors including being named the G. Maxwell Armor Chair at the University of Baltimore; France-Merrick Scholarship for Academic Excellence; and the Gold Star Award for Driving Organizational Change from the Baltimore Aircoil Company.
He is active in the community and serves on the board of directors for CUPs Coffeehouse and on the advisory board for Lauren’s Luggage. In addition, he is a member of the Baltimore Chapter of the American Marketing Association.
van Vliet holds an MBA with a focus in leadership and organizational change from the University of Baltimore and a bachelor of science in business/marketing from the University of Phonenix.

NFTE is an international nonprofit based in New York that provides entrepreneurship programs to inspire young people from low-income communities to stay in school, recognize business opportunities and plan for successful futures.
