The Howard Hughes Corporation Announces Move Of GP Strategies Corporation World Headquarters To Downtown Columbia, MD
The Howard Hughes Corporation (NYSE: HHC) announced today that GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE:GPX) will relocate its global headquarters to Columbia, MD in August. The technology company is leasing 64,000 square feet in the 70 Corporate Center, an office building owned by The Howard Hughes Corporation in the master planned community, which is currently being redeveloped as part of the Downtown Columbia Plan.
Numerous projects are now underway as part of the 30-year Downtown Columbia Plan, approved by the Howard County Council in 2010. The plan envisions a more vibrant, walkable urban core for Columbia with 13 million square feet of retail, commercial, residential, hotel and cultural development. To be accomplished in three phases, the plan includes up to 5,500 new residential units, 4.3 million square feet of commercial office space, 1.25 million square feet of retail space, 640 hotel rooms, the redevelopment Merriweather Post Pavilion, a multi-model transportation system and a broad range of sustainability features. The announcement of the GP Strategies move follows a series of other recent starts, including the groundbreaking for The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia luxury apartments, the renovation and expansion at Clyde’s Restaurant and the redevelopment of the former Rouse Company headquarters, which will convert the iconic building into a Whole Foods Market and a Columbia Association health and fitness club.

GP Strategies Corporation is a provider of training, e-learning, management consulting and engineering services, with 2,500 employees in 65 offices throughout the world. The company has had its headquarters in Howard County, MD since its inception in 1966. Currently located in Elkridge, it will move into the 170,000-square-foot 70 Corporate Center under a 12-year lease term for three floors.
