Stephen Peregoy to Lead the Growing ALS Advocacy Foundation
The Brigance Brigade Foundation, an ALS advocacy foundation created by former NFL player O.J. Brigance and his wife, Chanda Brigance, today announced that they have hired Stephen Peregoy as their new Executive Director. Peregoy will work with the Brigances and their Board to strategically create and implement a long-term direction for the organization and collaborate with other ALS groups nation-wide.
Prior to joining the Brigance Brigade Foundation, Peregoy spent four years as the Executive Director of the International Dyslexia Association, where he oversaw the leading national organization for dyslexia with 48 branches and 17 global partners. In this role, Peregoy managed the strategic planning process, evaluated organization effectiveness, diversified fundraising strategies and created mission-based products and services for families and individuals challenged with dyslexia.
“Stephen’s results-driven leadership and vast experience in the non-profit industry make him a valuable addition to the Brigance Brigade Foundation,” said O.J. Brigance, Co-Founder of the Brigance Brigade Foundation. “His vision for the development and continued success of the Foundation, as well as his unrelenting passion for helping others, will be instrumental in our fight against ALS.”
Peregoy earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Health Science from Towson University. He began his career in education, teaching and conducting a variety of programs at Catonsville Community College, Shippensburg University and Towson University. He then went on to work for the American Lung Association, where he planned and implemented special event fundraisers, developed marketing strategies and established the overall direction for the organization.
“I am honored to join the Brigance Brigade Foundation as the new executive director,” said Stephen Peregoy, Executive Director of the Brigance Brigade Foundation. “I look forward to working with OJ and Chanda in their unyielding effort to provide a better quality of life for those living with ALS.”
The Brigance Brigade Foundation was created by former NFL player O.J. Brigance and his wife, Chanda Brigance. Brigance played for a number of NFL teams and was diagnosed with ALS in 2007. The Brigances created the Brigance Brigade Foundation to raise funds to improve the quality of life of ALS patients and their families by providing access to vital equipment and support services.
About the Brigance Brigade Foundation:
O.J. Brigance is one of the few professional football players to win both a Canadian Football League and National Football League championship, and the only one to do it in the same city, Baltimore, MD. Brigance joined the Ravens in 2000, helped the team claim a Super Bowl victory, and now works as Senior Advisor to Player Development. In 2007, Brigance was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, a motor neuron disease and is determined to win his fight against it. Following his diagnosis with ALS, O.J. and his wife Chanda created the Brigance Brigade Foundation to equip, encourage and empower people living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis); we strive to improve the quality of life for them and their families by providing needed equipment, resource guidance and support services, in addition to funding various research initiatives.
