Two local riders, both affiliated with the S’ville Bikes/Giant Racing Team, took home awards in the United States National Mountain Bike Championships held in Snowshoe, West Virginia recently. Tommy Steinebrunner, age 19, from Eldersburg won the 19 - 24 Category 1/ Elite class and is now considered the National Champion and George Delgado, age 70, from Marriottsville placed third in the 70 - 74 Masters class. Joe Thomas age 20 of Catonsville also had an impressive finish, placing 18 in the U23 Pro Class. The racing team is sponsored by S’ville Bikes in Sykesville, Giant Bicycles as well as local corporations including Lee & Associates/Maryland.

“Winning the national championship is a goal I have had since I first started racing seven years ago,” said Tommy Steinebrunner. “It is truly a dream come true. I want to thank my family, friends, S’ville Bike shop, and the community for all their support.”

S’Ville Bikes, located on 20 Liberty Road in Sykesville, provides a full range of bicycles, clothing, parts and accessories as well as repair services. It is open seven days per week. Bike varieties include road, mountain, cyclocross, fitness, children’s, BMX and others.

“Considering the extremely high level of competition that participates in these races, it a major accomplishment to have two riders finish in the top three and one to finish 18th in the Pro Class from the same racing team,” explained Dennis Boyle, owner of S’Ville Bikes. “This is especially impressive given the relative small size of our - team. Tommy and George are proof that, no matter your age or level of experience, you can compete and beat the best if you have the right equipment, fitness and level of mental toughness. We are proud to provide the support and resources to these riders that allows them to compete at such a level against the best riders in the country.”
