First Financial Wraps Up 2017 By Helping Others

1/18/18

To round out an incredible year of giving back to the community, First Financial Federal Credit Union of Maryland participated in two final philanthropic events for 2017. Employee participation in November for a United Way campaign, and in December- the Salvation Army Angel Tree, both resulted in a resounding outpouring of generosity, selflessness, and compassion.

FFFCU has been an active participant in raising money for The United Way for over 20 years. Each year, First Financial organizes an employee and Board Member drive to raise donations for the local chapter of the United Way. This annual fundraiser brings employees and volunteers together and challenges them to donate. Once a participant donates, First Financial Federal Credit Union enters names into various raffles, each day for two weeks. First Financial’s fundraising goal was $25,000. Through their combined efforts, they not only met, but also exceeded the goal, by donating a total of $27,448.16.

Similarly, The Salvation Army Angel Tree toy drive is another successful annual community effort from credit union employees. This program was successful in providing over 100 children with surprises under the tree during the holiday season. First Financial employees filled its Administrative Center vestibule with dozens of dolls, trucks, games, and clothing.

Eric Church, President and CEO of First Financial proudly commented, “I always knew that First Financial was a very special place to work, but this show of benevolence has far surpassed my expectations. We truly are an organization built of the community and for the community. We are looking forward to many more opportunities to help in 2018!”
