Brightwood College in Towson Offers New Shuttle Service to Run Continuously Between Local Bus Stops and Campus

2/4/18

Service launched after city bus service operations scaled back, causing transportation issues for students and faculty

Brightwood College in Towson is pleased to announce its new campus shuttle service. The shuttle runs continuously between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, stopping at Towson Town Center, the Loch Raven and Joppa intersection and the Towson campus. This new service provides students, faculty and staff with a reliable mode of transportation to and from campus at no cost to its riders.

Brightwood College in Towson decided to create a shuttle system after the local bus service scaled back its routes and hours of operation, leaving many needing to commute to campus without a way to get there between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

“We polled our student population and found that nearly 65 percent was without a car, relying on public transportation,” says Campus President Stephanie Jackson. “When the local buses cut back their routes, our students were having trouble getting to and from campus, with the closest bus stops more than a mile away. Creating this shuttle service has allowed us a practical way to serve our students as well as our staff and even those interested in visiting Brightwood College.”

The shuttle service also supports local business, as it is contracted through Let’s Go Presto Transportation, a local business owned by community member Kenny Butler. The shuttle visits each stop once per hour throughout the day and has helped many students shorten their commutes.

“The new shuttle service has saved me time and money, and it has drastically shortened my commute,” says Bruce Moog, student in the Medical Billing and Coding Specialist program. “I am able to catch the shuttle at Towson Town Center for a quick ride to campus, which has made all the difference. I am so grateful to attend a school like Brightwood that cares about its students and looks for ways to serve us both inside and outside the classroom.”

Brightwood College in Towson offers a variety of programs to its students and prospective students, including: Computer Networking Technology, Computer Support Technician, Medical Assistant and Medical Billing and Coding Specialist programs.
