Alex Cooper Auctioneers announced today that it has been selected by the Washington D.C Department of Housing and Community Development to auction 35 properties as part of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s “Vacant to Vibrant DC” initiative. The new action plan is designed to reactivate vacant spaces around the District into vibrant, productive solutions that include workforce housing, green spaces and small business opportunities.
On December 15, 2017, Mayor Muriel Bowser, along with Director of Housing and Community Development Polly Donaldson and Councilmembers Anita Bonds and Trayon White, held a press event at the Rosedale Recreation Center to announce the auction and launch of the “Vacant to Vibrant DC” community initiative. The auction will include 35 properties currently owned by the District’s Property Acquisition and Disposition Division (PADD).
"We’re pleased to partner with Alex Cooper as part of the ‘Vacant To Vibrant DC’ initiative. We’re confident, based on their track record of success with previous DHCD Property auctions, that this partnership will help us provide more homeownership opportunities in the District,” said Polly Donaldson, Director of Housing and Community Development for the City of Washington, DC.
“We are honored to once again be chosen by the City of Washington, DC to assist in the disposition of under-utilized properties and are excited to partner with the Mayor’s Office and the Department of Housing and Community Development to launch the ‘Vacant to Vibrant DC’ Campaign,” said Paul Cooper, Vice President of Alex Cooper. “We have a long-standing history in the DC region and are excited to play a role in the continued revitalization of the community.”
The 5-day online auction will begin on January 18, 2018 and bidding ends on Tuesday January 23, 2018. Interested parties can access the online bidding platform at DHCD.AlexCooper.com.
