Given first-year Coppin State University men's basketball head coach Juan Dixon's well-known competitive fire, work ethic and drive to succeed, it's not surprising the team has already assumed his personality.
And despite an imposing schedule that has included 10 of the first 11 games on the road, injuries to key players and an 0-11 record, Dixon doesn't let the internal fire that pushed him to such great heights as a college and professional player get the best of him during tough times.
"At times you can see that I get frustrated," Dixon said, "but for the most part I try to keep my composure, be calm in every situation and remain confident no matter what the score is. The guys feed off my confidence and energy. As a staff we stay into the game, we fight and we continue to coach them hard. Our guys are getting better. The record may not indicate it, but later on in the season we are going to see a lot more success."
