According to the presentation, twenty different industrial projects, comprising nearly 7.3 million square feet of space will be delivered or is under construction in 2018 in the greater Baltimore metropolitan region. In addition, approximately 1.6 million square feet of commercial office space is being developed, as well as 1.2 million square feet of retail space, 600,000 square feet of hotel space and 10,000 new multi-family units. In his remarks, Benjamin Wu of the Maryland Department of Commerce said that “Maryland is firing on all cylinders and has generated more than 135,000 new jobs since Governor Larry Hogan took office. The State’s unemployment rate is currently 3.8%, which makes it among the lowest in the country and significantly below the national rate of 4.4%. In Baltimore, we are known for having three birds.
