During Maryland's 42-39 win against Indiana Oct. 28, junior safety Darnell Savage made two significant plays early in the game that were vital to the Terps' victory, but head coach DJ Durkin brought up one play in particular that he said helped Maryland jump back into the contest.
Running back Lorenzo Harrison had a 29-yard run on first play of the Terps' second series, and though Maryland punted, the run flipped field position, as punter Wade Lees pinned the Hoosiers at their 7-yard line. Savage recorded his interception on Indiana's ensuing drive, setting up the Terps in prime field position. Harrison punched it in for Maryland's first score of the day.
"After they went up 14-0, the first play of the next series, Lorenzo had an unbelievable run [that] I think got everyone going," Durkin said. "It was a great effort by him. He broke about four tackles and … it got some excitement back going. That's a small play no one probably remembers, but it was a big one to go with [Savage's] blocked punt and [Javon Leake's] big kickoff return."
