Baltimore Ravens third-year defensive lineman Carl Davis said he and his teammates were "livid" over Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso's illegal hit on Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, who suffered a concussion on the play, but he said they couldn't leave the sideline to retaliate.
"We can support Joe by going out there and finishing the game for him," Davis, who started at defensive end during the Ravens' 40-0 win against the Dolphins Oct. 26, said on Glenn Clark Radio Oct. 27. "[Ryan] Mallett stepped in and did a great job, but yeah, that sucked to see that happen. We've got a bunch of tough guys on this team, too, obviously [center Ryan Jensen] being the leader, being the most physical out there. That sucked, but we hope to get Joe back soon."
Jensen immediately retaliated against Alonso, tearing Alonso's helmet off in the process. Jensen, who has had a productive year for the Ravens in his first season starting at center, has quickly gained a reputation as a player who isn't shy about getting involved in scuffles with opposing players. Davis, who opposes Jensen in practice, offered his opinion on "Red," the Ravens' nickname for Jensen due to his long, bright, red hair.
