Baltimore Magazine Earns Six Wins at Folio’s 2017 Eddie & Ozzie Awards

Magazine’s editorial, digital and design teams recognized with industry awards

Baltimore magazine is honored to have received 13 nominations in addition to winning a total of six categories at Folio’s 2017 Eddie & Ozzie Awards, the largest editorial and design competition for magazines in the industry.

Baltimore magazine, like our city, is small but it is mighty,” said Lydia Woolever, associate editor at Baltimore, after accepting the awards. “We work really hard to celebrate all of the good that exists here, and we're truly honored to be recognized for that endless pursuit. In the end, it positively recognizes Baltimore, and that's all that we could possibly hope for.”

Folio’s Eddie & Ozzie Awards, an annual award presentation for exemplary accomplishments, celebrated the winners of the Eddie (editorial) and Ozzie (design) on October 11. This year’s awards brought in more than 200 media professionals from around the country for a luncheon that took place at the Hilton Midtown in New York City.

“I love that we’re still focused on creating great content for Baltimoreans,” said Steve Geppi, the owner and publisher ofBaltimore. “The reason we continue to receive more recognition each year is because we continue to improve and innovate in the interest of our readers. We want to deliver the best in everything we do: in print, online, feature writing, design, illustration, photography, typography, and the overall quality of our supplement Baltimore Bride issues.”

Specific honors include the following:

Best City & Regional Full Issue [Eddies]

The July 2016 Edition was recognized for its excellent cover story on the 25 best crab houses in the area, the Chesapeake Bay’s venerable water women, the ultimate pet guide, and their summer Home section.

Editorial Team of the Year [Eddies]

Baltimore magazine’s editorial team earned the title as best Editorial Team over several other great publications like SUCCESS Magazine and Turf Magazine.

Best City & Regional Newsletters [Eddies Digital]

Baltimore magazine received the best City & Regional Newsletters award for their food-and-drink related emails thatsubscribers receive on a daily basis.

Best City & Regional Website [Eddies Digital]

Baltimore was recognized for their excellent website which recently received a makeover.

Best City & Regional Feature Design [Ozzies]

“The Essential Crab House Guide,” from the July 2016 issue received special attention and won best City & Regional Feature Design.

Best Design of a City & Regional Supplement [Ozzies]

Baltimore Bride took home the best supplement for the second year in a row.

Baltimore magazine is the area’s most popular guide to the best of the greater Baltimore region. Its “Best of Baltimore,” “Top Doctors” and “Best Restaurants” features have become signatures of the magazine, and Baltimore’s monthly exploration of politics, food, business, lifestyle and the arts has earned numerous awards, including several City and Regional Magazine Awards (CRMA) and Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) awards. Baltimore magazine celebrates its 110th anniversary in 2017 and is the country’s oldest continuously published city/regional magazine.
