The National Aquarium is pleased to announce Nancy Murray as its new Vice President of Philanthropy. Murray previously served as the Associate Vice President of University Advancement at The Catholic University of America.

As the Vice President of Philanthropy, Murray will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive fundraising strategies for the Aquarium’s annual and major gifts, membership and planned giving programs. She will work closely with leadership, development and other departments to continuously grow and diversify the Aquarium's supporter base.

"Nancy's arrival will allow us to broaden our donor engagement and deepen our connection to the community, both crucial to furthering our organization’s mission of conservation," said National Aquarium Chief Philanthropy Officer Scott Douglas Melton. "Her deep experience in development and fundraising makes her an excellent addition to the team."

Murray brings more than 20 years of experience in management, fundraising and special events planning to the National Aquarium. She has worked with a variety of colleges and universities, including The Catholic University of America and Loyola University Maryland, organizing “days of giving” fundraising programs to achieve institutional goals. Most recently, she worked with Catholic University to create the first 24-hour giving day and the first annual Cardinal Tribute Dinner and inaugural scholarship dinner.

She currently serves on the Parent Teacher Student Association for Wilde Lake Middle School in Columbia and previously served on the Board of Directors at Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center in Howard County. Murray is a graduate of the Leadership Howard County program.

Murray graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from LeMoyne College and a Master of Science in student personnel administration from the State University of New York College at Buffalo.
