The Women's Exchange Issues Call for Expressions of Interest

10/10/17

The Women’s Exchange in Baltimore (The Exchange), Maryland’s oldest, longest continually operating 501c(3) dedicated to improving the lives of regional women through economic independence, is seeking partners or affiliates as it begins a renewed mission of training women to become economically self-sufficient. The Board of Directors wants to explore new and creative approaches in empowering women to become financially stable by coupling the organization’s time, real estate/space, financial resources, and creative intellect with other partner organization(s) in Baltimore. The goal is to avoid creating new programs, but to support other organizations in addressing their demand and any capacity constraints by offering the resources of The Exchange.

Interested parties are invited to view and respond to the Call for Expressions at www.womansindustrialexchange.org. Innovative and creative ideas are encouraged, though only serious inquiries will be considered. Deadline for submission is November 6, 2017.

About The Women’s Exchange

Incorporated in 1882 “for the purpose of endeavoring by sympathy and practical aid to encourage and help needy women to help themselves,” the Woman’s Industrial Exchange was a pioneer in the movement for women’s economic independence. Hundreds of artisan and small business women sold their wares through our consignment shop located at 333 North Charles Street, one of Baltimore’s most recognizable addresses. The organization operated a popular restaurant with what some said had the best chicken salad in the area. Today, our tenants include a successful restaurant (Jack and Zach’s) as well several residential tenants. The building also has a full commercial kitchen, a restaurant, a storefront retail space and rooms which can serve multi-purposes, as well as proximity to the Inner Harbor, I-83 and the Charm City Circulator purple line.
