9/21/17

DLA Piper represented the Atlanta Braves in the negotiation of the Development Agreement and all of the Operative Agreements required for the development of the team's new spring training complex in Sarasota County, Florida. The estimated US $100 million project is expected to be completed by January 2019.

"This complex will give the Braves great proximity to other teams and offer both fans and players an excellent spring training experience," said Greg Heller, executive vice president and chief legal officer of the Atlanta Braves. "We appreciate DLA Piper's depth of understanding and commitment as our outside counsel partner in the development of our new facility."

Leading the DLA Piper team was head of the Atlanta office Real Estate practice, Maxine Hicks. She previously advised the Braves on all aspects of the development of the team's new stadium, Sun Trust Park and The Battery Atlanta mixed-use project, from project inception. Sun Trust Park was recently selected by Ballpark Digest as the MLB Ballpark of the Year.

Other members of the DLA Piper team representing the Atlanta Braves included partners Brian Fielden(Atlanta), Mike Bedke (Miami), and attorney Andrew Much (Atlanta).
