Baltimore City Attorneys Provide Pro Bono Legal Help for Low-Income MVLS Clients

Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS), the largest provider of pro bono civil legal services to low-income Marylanders, today announced that in the past 12 months, 199 Baltimore City lawyers provided free legal services to Maryland residents, helping to bridge the justice gap in the state. The lawyers' names are listed below. If a volunteer accepted more than one case during the year, the number of cases is included in parentheses.

Since 1981, MVLS has provided a lifeline to low-income Marylanders through its panel of volunteer attorneys. MVLS’ volunteers provide services for estate planning, divorce and child custody proceedings, landlord-tenant disputes, bankruptcy, criminal record expungements, as well as many other civil legal challenges.

In the past year, 665 volunteer attorneys closed 3,206 pro bono cases through individual representation or assistance at a clinic. Collectively, donated legal services were valued at more than $4.6 million.
