Defense Coming Up Big For Navy

Navy had to make a crucial, perhaps game-saving, stop on a fourth-and-1 against Tulane Sept. 9.

The Midshipmen were clinging to a 23-21 lead in the fourth quarter, and the Green Wave gambled on their own 36-yard line to extend a drive.

Tulane backup quarterback Johnathan Brantley handed the ball off to 6-foot-1, 225-point running back Darius Bradwell, who attempted to barrel through the middle of the line. However, Bradwell was met in the backfield by Navy defensive end Tyler Sayles and linebacker Brandon Jones for a 2-yard loss, and Navy held on for the two-point victory
