Brian White, executive vice president of LifeBridge Health responsible for Sinai and Northwest Hospitals, has been honored as an “Innovator of the Year” for 2017 by The Daily Record newspaper. He earned this prestigious recognition for his work to invigorate the Liberty Road Corridor in Randallstown, home to Northwest Hospital, through a series of tactical real estate and construction projects, and by strengthening business and community partnerships.

“Brian White and his team have taken an innovative approach to modernizing their facilities and constructing new ones closer to major travel corridors to meet the needs of a changing healthcare system and the people they serve,” writes Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz in his letter of recommendation. “The result is more streamlined, convenient health and wellness services on a vibrant, expanded campus that has revitalized aging buildings and brought even more jobs to the community.”

Among the important brick-and-mortar innovations was the purchasing and reimagining of a building at the corner of Liberty and Old Court roads, now called Liberty Center. The building was completely renovated, both inside and out. Since its official opening in 2016, it has served as the gateway to Northwest Hospital’s main campus, which is a quarter-mile away. An ExpressCare Urgent Care Center, a LifeBridge Health partner, anchors the building and other specialty physician practices call the space home as well.

Another important initiative is transforming properties on Old Court Road across the street from the hospital. LifeBridge Health bought the properties and began construction on a building for clinics offering medical care for chronic diseases as well as services to assist the organization’s population health programs, which focus on prevention, wellness and community support. Construction is currently underway on this new Old Court Center.

Additionally, under White’s supervision, the main Northwest Hospital building continues its reinvention with modern design elements to provide the most state-of-the art medical care to patients and their families.

As a direct complement to these real estate initiatives, Northwest Hospital also continues to be a driving force in a number of community partnerships to create a stronger, more tangible connection to the people who live and work in the nearby communities.

Among them, White spearheaded a unique public-private partnership between Northwest Hospital and Baltimore County Public Schools in 2016. The hospital offers students at the Northwest Academy of Health Sciences a hands-on look at health care careers, and the education and the training it takes to be successful. At the same time, the magnet program already in place at the Randallstown High School Academy of Health Professions expanded its curriculum with enhanced collaboration with the hospital.

Northwest Hospital also partnered with Baltimore County government to launch a Live Near Where You Work program, with incentives to help LifeBridge Health employees with down payments and closing costs when they buy a home near the hospital.

“Mr. Brian White is a visionary with a penchant for innovation and connectivity with my community and the greater community at large. He is the right man in the right place to do the right thing in order to insure the smooth delivery of health care and wellness in a suburban setting,” says Aaron Plymouth, president of the Stevenswood Improvement Association, Inc.
