Mary G. Loker Merges Practice with Smith, Gildea & Schmidt

9/12/17

Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, LLC (SGS), a regional law firm with offices in Towson and Baltimore, is pleased to announce that the firm will merge with the Law Office of Mary G. Loker on October 1. Loker, who has had an established estates and trust practice in Phoenix, Md. for more than 40 years, will be Of Counsel in SGS’s Towson office.

“We are really excited that Mary Loker is joining our firm. Mary is extremely impressive and one of the first female estates and trust attorneys in the area,” said David K. Gildea, managing partner of SGS. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and we look forward to continuing to grow our estates and trust department with her guidance.”

“I have a really large practice, and I knew I could not continue to offer the highest standards of service to my clients without another attorney to balance the workload,” said Loker. “Merging with SGS was the perfect opportunity for me to be able to serve my clients as well as transition for the future.”

Loker will work closely with Mariela D’Alessio, Chair of the Estates and Trust Department at SGS.

Loker has been a practicing attorney for 40 years, having started her legal career as a Trust Officer for Mercantile Safe Deposit and Trust Company after obtaining a law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She opened her own firm in1996 and is recognized by the local legal, banking and financial communities for her skill and compassion in providing her clients with efficient and cost-effective guidance in complex matters. She also practices in the areas of guardianships, private adoption and court-appointed representation of children in custody disputes.

In addition to University of Baltimore School of Law, Loker is a graduate of Notre Dame University of Maryland and the Institute of Notre Dame High School in Baltimore.
