Cybrary, the world’s first open-source cyber security and IT learning and certification preparation platform, has secured $3.5 million in Series A funding through Arthur Ventures with participation from Ron Gula, Founder of Tenable Network Security, and other existing investors.

“In just two years, more than 1.2 million people have learned critical cyber security and IT skills through Cybrary – more than any other learning platform in the world,” said Ralph Sita, Co-Founder and CEO, Cybrary. “With this latest investment, Cybrary will continue to expand its user base and content catalog, optimize and scale its enterprise learning and testing platform, and grow its marketplace for cyber security and IT learning apps.”

Cybrary levels the playing field for those who want to advance in or start a cyber security or IT career by providing anyone with access to the tools they need to be competent and confident in the field. Through its open-source model, Cybrary is actively working to fill the gap between open cyber security and IT positions and experienced practitioners. Many of the world’s top companies and organizations, including Hitachi, Tenable, and Tripwire use Cybrary to develop their teams’ cyber security and IT skills and get certification-ready.

"Over the past 10 months we have focused on releasing training products for businesses while also building the world's largest marketplace for hands-on cyber security labs and assessments,” said Ryan Corey, Co-Founder, Cybrary. “We are very thankful to not only the 1.2 million members who have joined us, but the world-class security organizations now using us and contributing to the platform, which helps to make these products best-in-class. In just the past four months, Cybrary has experienced 400 percent growth in revenue from these products and this financing will be used to support this explosive demand."

Cybrary has thousands of hours of free content for beginners, all the way through advanced and leadership-levels, which is developed and delivered by industry subject matter experts. The platform offers skill assessments, learning, and certification preparation on popular topics such as Ethical Hacking, CompTIA A+, Security+, and CISSP, Web Application Penetration Testing, Secure Coding, NIST 800, Metasploit, while keeping current with changes in the industry.

“Cybrary is fast becoming a must-have training and assessment resource for employers, recruiters and individuals within the dynamic cyber security industry,” said Ryan Kruizenga, Partner at Arthur Ventures. “We are delighted to expand our partnership with the team at Cybrary to support them through this period of accelerating growth.”

Through this funding, Cybrary has redefined its offerings to best target the needs of users while staying true to the original mission of providing open-source content. As always, Cybrary for Individuals provides open-source cyber security and IT training for anyone and everyone looking to start their career, prepare for a certification, or sharpen their skills. Additionally, those individuals can shop in the new marketplace for add-ons such as practice exams, capture-the-flag exercises, and more.
