The Maryland football team defeated Towson, 63-17, at Maryland Stadium Sept. 9 to begin the season 2-0. Towson fell to 1-1. The Terps have a bye next weekend and then will host Central Florida Sept. 23.
Here are four observations about Maryland's victory over the Tigers:
1. Kasim Hill's debut as the Terps' starting quarterback went well.
Maryland received the opening kickoff and went on a quick seven-play, 62-yard drive for a touchdown. Hill went 6-for-6 for 49 yards on the drive, with Terps offensive coordinator Walt Bell getting Hill into rhythm early with a lot of throws designed to get the ball out of his hand quickly. Hill's first throw was a slant to Taivon Jacobs for 10 yards. Hill then hit junior receiver D.J. Moore four times on the drive, including a nine-yard touchdown strike with a defender right on Moore's back. Hill delivered the ball over Moore's left shoulder where only Moore could reel it in.
