Four Observations From The Terps' 51-41 Win At Texas

The University of Maryland football team began its season with a 51-41 victory at 23rd-ranked Texas. It’s the first time the Terps beat a ranked opponent since 2010 and the first time they’ve beaten a ranked opponent on the road since 2008.

Here are four observations on the Terps’ big win:

1. Head coach DJ Durkin and his staff have overhauled the program in relatively short order.

At the first open practice of fall camp, Durkin and his players raved about the quality of the Terps’ practices compared to a year prior as well as the improvement players made in the weight room over the offseason. In last year’s camp, Durkin and his staff were working to instill the kind of culture they wanted in the program and teaching their players the proper way to practice.
