A reception was held at the Havre de Grace Library on August 23 to celebrate the opening of Artist John Sauers’ exhibit, Spirit of Place. The exhibit showcases rural architecture and beautiful landscapes from around Maryland and Virginia. Also included in the exhibit are paintings that depict the Hosanna School Museum in Darlington that was built in 1879 by the Freedman’s Bureau for educating freed slaves.
Artist John Sauers
After retiring from his position as a graphic designer for Baltimore Gas & Electric Company, John Sauers moved to Whitetop, Virginia where he served as Resident Artist at The Arts Depot and the William King Museum in Abingdon, Virginia. Now living in Darlington, Maryland, Mr. Sauers is considered an accomplished sketch artist, plein-air oil painter, watercolorist and he has received numerous awards from national competitions.
His work is on display during library hours at the Havre de Grace Library, 120 N. Union Avenue through Monday, September 11. Please call 410-939-6700 for additional information.
