Franchise owners Bart and Monica Butler aim to open ten sites locally

Owings Mills, MD (August 30, 2017) – Hammer & Nails | Grooming Shop for Guys, offering an assortment barber shop services and hand and foot treatments, has selected Metro Centre at Owings Mills as the site of its first location in the Maryland area. Franchise owners Bart and Monica Butler intend to open up to ten sites locally within the next three to five years, including the first at Metro Centre this November.

Metro Centre at Owings Mills, the only Transit-Oriented Development in Baltimore County, encircles the Owings Mills Metro Station and currently includes restaurants Eggspectation, Times Square Kitchen, U Food Grill, Fractured Prune and Subway. Other retail tenants include Honey House, Metro Nails & Spa and Metro Cobbler and Company. Recently signed tenants include World of Beer, Club Pilates and Metro Wine & Spirits. Metro Centre at Owings Mills is being developed by Owings Mills Transit, LLC and is managed by David S. Brown Enterprises, Ltd.

Started in Los Angeles by Michael Elliot who, when searching for a grooming shop, wandered into a women’s nail salon and immediately felt uncomfortable by the environment, clientele and loud reality shows that were being played on the television sets. He decided to create his own store concept that could cater exclusively to the needs of men without the stares and judgements he encountered in a female-specific salon. Elliott indicates that men’s grooming is a $21 billion a year industry and the growing trend shows men taking greater care of their health, bodies and appearances.

Hammer & Nails | Grooming Shop for Guys offers standard hand and foot care services as well as leg and foot massages. More elaborate and extensive options available are The Jack Hammer Experience, which involves a whiskey-spiked soak and Tennessee whiskey and brown sugar scrub for hands, arms, feet and legs; and The Hops and Cedar Experience, which is a hand and foot repair service using Guinness Extra Stout beer, essential oils and oatmeal.

Hair care services range from the standard haircut, maintenance cut or beard trim to a straight razor shave using hot lather and steamed towels and a color camo designed to cover the grey in hair or a beard. Special hair cut programs are available for boys under twelve years of age and combination and total maintenance packages are also available.

“After scouting locations in several Maryland counties, Metro Centre at Owings Mills emerged is the perfect situation to open our inaugural store based on a number of factors led by its upscale development plan that meshes with the innovative brand we are building,” stated Bart Butler. “The transportation amenities serving Metro Centre are unparalleled by any project including the subway station. It is contained within the center of a rapidly-expanding section of Baltimore County and the existing demographics match the customer profile that patronizes our unique concept.”

Hammer & Nails | Grooming Shop for Guys is expected to open at Metro Centre at Owings Mills in November.

“We envision Hammer & Nails as a true destination at Metro Centre at Owings Mills, as there are no comparable concepts in the immediate area,” said Ken Bernstein of David S. Brown Enterprises. “This is an excellent complement to our expanding retail offerings and restaurant options.”

More than 140,000 vehicles pass Metro Centre each day from Interstate 795 and 5,000 commuters board the Owings Mills Metro Stop each workday. More than 30,000 consumers utilize the library and community college per month. The downtown business district and Baltimore City amenities, such as M&T Bank Stadium and Oriole Park Camden Yards can be accessed in approximately 17 minutes from the project.
