We have reached the final weekend of August and have made it to the home stretch of the fantasy baseball season. Fantasy owners have known for a while what their strengths and weaknesses are, but the final month of the season is really about targeting players off the waiver wire who will help in a category we are lacking.
Waiver-Wire Targets:
Philadelphia Phillies Outfielder/First Baseman Rhys Hoskins -- I'm only mentioning the rookie because he's still somehow hovering around 50-percent owned, and that is my threshold for waiver-wire recommendations. The 24-year-old has hit eight home runs in his first 15 games and is looking like a player who can help in the power category down the stretch. He should not be on the waiver wire, and fantasy owners need to take advantage if he is. I have discussed rookies numerous times. as we don't know if they will come up and make an immediate impact or will struggle. For instance, Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith of the New York Mets were both called up around the same time as Hoskins and have struggled while Hoskins has been hot.
