Andrew Hermalyn

2U, Inc. (NASDAQ: TWOU), a global leader in education technology, today announced two key internal promotions. Andrew Hermalyn, the former executive vice president of strategic partnerships, will take on a newly created role as executive vice president of university partnerships and programs and manage all facets of the company's growing portfolio of new and existing partners. Matthew Norden, the former deputy general counsel, will now serve as co-general counsel and oversee securities, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and intellectual property matters. Both Hermalyn and Norden will report to Chip Paucek, 2U's co-founder and CEO.

Hermalyn has been with the company since its inception, holding a wide range of leadership positions over nearly a decade. As 2U's first director of business development, Hermalyn helped successfully negotiate many of the company's earliest partnerships, including American University, George Washington University, Simmons College, UC Berkeley, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Washington University in St. Louis. Most recently as executive vice president of strategic partnerships, Andrew played a crucial role in driving 2U's growth by expanding the company's university portfolio from 14 to 22 partners in the past 15 months, including the addition of Harvard University.

"Building on his strong track record of success, Andrew is uniquely well-positioned to lead the university partnerships and program management teams as we continue growing our roster of new partners and expanding our relationships with existing university partners," said Paucek.

Norden joined 2U in September 2013 as deputy general counsel from TOMS Shoes. Over the past four years, Norden helped lead the company through its successful initial public offering in 2014 as well as its recent acquisition of GetSmarter, which closed last month. In 2016, Norden was recognized as one of the D.C. region's top 40 in-house lawyers. He will co-lead the legal team alongside Todd Glassman.

"Matt has played a critical role in guiding 2U through some of the most important moments in our company's history. As our business scales and expands internationally, his leadership and expertise will help us navigate an increasingly complex business and legal landscape," said Paucek.

The promotions of Hermalyn and Norden are part of a continued expansion of the scope and responsibilities of the company's senior leadership team as 2U evolves and enters its next phase of growth.
