The Montgomery County Planning Board has approved a 72-unit senior housing development that is to be known as “Victory Haven.”

Ed Novak and Damon Orobona of Nova-Habitat, the co-developers of the project, contracted to acquire the 3.4-acre site and began planning and approval efforts nearly two years ago. Nova-Habitat initially considered a variety of residential and commercial development options for the property, but ultimately decided to pursue a senior housing project based upon the site’s close proximity to the Damascus Town Center,the recommendation in the Damascus Master Plan for senior housing, and the preferences expressed by nearby neighbors, including the Damascus United Methodist Church. Nova-Habitat partnered with Victory Housing, Inc., a well-respected provider of affordable senior housing in the region, to develop an attractive architectural design for the 72-unit project,which will include numerous amenities that will appeal to senior residents.Furthermore, the project is located adjacent to the County-operated Damascus Seniors Center. The Montgomery County Planning Board, in approving the project, lauded it as a great example of a developer working closely with Planning Staff, neighbors,and the community to design and develop a project as envisioned by the County’s Master Plan.

Groundbreaking for Victory Haven is expected in early 2018 with completion in 2019. Nova-Habitat and Victory Housing look forward to serving seniors and their families in the Damascus community. Additional project renderings for Victory Haven are available upon request.
