The Ravens canceled practice Aug. 21 and head coach John Harbaugh took the players on a team-building excursion that included a tour of the Pentagon, a visit to John F. Kennedy's grave at Arlington National Cemetery and a wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
"Football is a meritocracy, and our team has worked hard throughout this offseason and training camp. Our coaches appreciate and respect that effort," Harbaugh said in a statement. "The team deserves a day away from the fields and meetings and an opportunity to spend some time together away from the facility."
Harbaugh, who has a passion for history, has undertaken previous team-building trips to Gettysburg, Pa.
