'Always A Raven,' Zach Orr Retires For Good

Former Ravens linebacker Zach Orr has announced his retirement for good after he could not find any NFL team willing to clear him medically given the spinal condition that abruptly ended his Ravens career last winter.

In a compelling, candid piece on the Players Tribune website titled "Always a Raven," Orr explained how his attempt at a comeback ended after 17 teams failed to clear him medically. He also strongly rejects the notion that he tried to circumvent free-agency rules by retiring and then un-retiring, which some viewed as his attempt to hit unrestricted free agency a year early.

"That’s not even the slightest bit true," Orr writes. "And that doesn’t even make sense because I didn’t want to become a free agent. I wanted to be a Raven."
