There are some weeks when the waiver wire has plenty of options and there are other weeks where we are scrapping to find a player or two who can help. We're somewhere in the middle this week, as we have a new closer, a couple of young players who will get an opportunity to play and a couple of players returning from injury.
Waiver-Wire Targets
Los Angeles Angels Relievers Cam Bedrosian and Blake Parker -- The Angels announced Bud Norris would be taking a step back as the team's closer after allowing five earned runs during his past two appearances. This has opened up the door for Bedrosian and Parker. Bedrosian earned the save Aug. 10 after Norris struggled, so it appears he may get the first crack at the ninth inning for the Angels. However, Parker is clearly the better pitcher, as he has 64 strikeouts to 14 walks in 50.2 innings pitched. This is a situation to keep a close eye on and hopefully there will be clarity right away. The Angels are in the thick of a playoff race so the leash will be short for whomever gets the nod, but it's a great opportunity for one of these pitchers to step up and take the role for the remainder of the season.
