Fantasy Baseball Risers, Fallers: Aug. 7, 2017

By Phil Backert, PressBox

The first week of August is complete, and we are inching closer and closer to fantasy football season. This is the time to hit the waiver wire and offer some trades before your league deadline. The weeks are dwindling, so finding any kind of advantage will help.

Three Up:

1. New York Yankees Starting Pitcher Luis Severino -- The 23-year-old doesn't get mentioned enough for the type of season he is having. Severino struck out 17 batters and allowed two earned runs during his two starts this past week to give him a 2.91 ERA for the season, which is fourth-best in the American League. The right-hander also ranks in the top 10 in the majors in strikeouts with 162. For a pitcher who wasn't drafted in many leagues, the return has been exceptional this season.
