Caitec Corporation plans to occupy new facility to house light manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operations, as well as twelve employees, by end of August
BALTIMORE, MD (August 2, 2017) – Caitec Corporation, a Baltimore-based company specializing in the manufacture and distribution of pet supplies, including dog toys and bird products, as well as lawn and garden items, has acquired a 110,000 square foot industrial building located on 4601 Hollins Ferry Road in the Halethorpe section of Baltimore County. The previous owner was Exeter Property Group. Caitec plans to relocate its headquarters and complete operations, along with twelve employees, from 1120 Whistler Avenue by the end of next month. Herbert Burgunder III, Member, Pessin Katz Law, P.A. (PK Law) and Brian Siegel, Vice President of Transwestern, represented the company in the building acquisition..
Founded in 1992, Caitec Corporation operates two lines of dog toys -- Hero Dog Toys and Chase and Chomp -- as well as bird toys, cages, feeders, perches and ladders. The company warehouses products produced overseas and domestically for distribution globally, as well as performing light manufacturing and assembling operations at its local facility. Caitec employs an additional three people that work outside of the Baltimore location. For more information, visit www.caitec.com
The company is currently retrofitting 4601 Hollins Ferry Road, including the installation of racking systems, in anticipation of its corporate move in August. The building contains twenty-one foot high ceilings, eleven dock doors and one drive-in door on a five-acre site that can support approximately 120 vehicles. Offering approximately 98,000 square feet of warehouse/industrial space, as well as 12,000 square feet of office space, the structure was renovated in 2010 and 2015. The building is positioned near the intersection of Interstates 695 and 895 and is less than ten miles from the Port of Baltimore.
“We have been rapidly expanding for the past five years and simply outgrew our existing building,” explained Terry Gao, President of Caitec Corporation. “This new facility provides us with the space we need to more efficiently fulfill customer orders, as well as expansion opportunities as we continue to enlarge our operations. From a logistics perspective, this new location is ideal as we have immediate access to nearby highway systems and the Port of Baltimore. The move will not cause inconvenience to our current employees, as our current location is approximately five miles away.”
According to Gao, Caitec Corporation services a stable of nationally-recognized retailers including Wal-Mart, Home Goods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Petsmart, Petco, Bass Pro Shops and distributors worldwide.
“After an extensive real estate search, 4601 Hollins Ferry Road emerged as the building that best satisfied the customized needs of Caitec Corporation, led by a flexible and open floor plan design,” stated Herbert Burgunder III, Member, Pessin Katz Law. “The company is extremely respected within its industry on a national scale, and has successfully secured impressive market share in separate pet supply industries.”
