Morgan State and Towson football are set to kick off a new chapter in their rivalry with a season-opening game Sept. 2, known as the Battle For Greater Baltimore.
"It's a long-time coming," Towson head coach Rob Ambrose said at a news conference July 18.
The last game between the two schools took place in 2011 -- a 42-3 victory by Towson, which leads the all-time series, 17-6. Looking to rekindle the rivalry and build excitement for Baltimore-area football, the schools are set to play two years in a row.
This season's game will be at Towson, with next year's at Morgan. Both schools' athletic directors are working on extending the series and expanding it to other sports as well.
