Former Orioles Executive Kevin Malone: Orioles Should 'Go For It,' Keep Top Players

 Former Orioles executive Kevin Malone joined Glenn Clark Radio July 10 and shared his thoughts on how the Orioles' front office should approach the MLB non-waiver trade deadline July 31.

"To me, the mentality is we're going for it, we're going for it, we're going for it, until there's a reason not to," Malone said. "So to me, if [Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations] Dan Duquette called me or [Orioles manager Buck Showalter] called me and said, ‘What would you do?' I'd say you reload and you come back out and you go for it."

The Orioles are 42-46 and are four games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the second wild-card spot. With six other teams within five games of the Rays at the conclusion of the All-Star break, the Orioles must decide whether to play for the postseason or part with assets and build for the future.
